July 2021

With the summer hopefully in full swing, our next issue of Future Rail will profile the resurgence of the legendary Le Train Bleu – a historic service to the French Riviera that was once loved by Marlene Dietrich and Coco Chanel.

We also find out about a monster patrolling the Finnish countryside. VR Transpoint has begun operating one of the longest regular train services in the world, measuring 1km long and with the capacity of 92 lorries.

Train companies are going green and exploring more environmentally friendly sources of fuel. We profile the world’s first hydrogen fuel cell train, as well as explore National Rail’s plans for long term decarbonisation.

Finally, now that the long running train guard dispute is finally over, we investigate both sides of the union-led debate.
