The Indore Metro project will have four main lines and a ballastless standard gauge track of 1,435mm.

Phase one will operate 25 Alstom Movia metro passenger trainsets of three-car configuration. The rolling stock will be 22m long and 2.9m wide. operating at 80km/h.

Project type: Railway line redevelopment

Start date: 2022

Investment: $235m

The Northumberland Line will reintroduce direct passenger trains between Ashington and Newcastle in the UK.

The project will upgrade 18 miles (29km) of train tracks and develop six new stations. The project also includes the development of three new footbridges and new signal locations.

Project type: Road and railway tunnel

Start date: 2020

Completion: 2029

Investment: $8bn

The 18km Fehmarnbelt tunnel is an undersea-immersed tunnel being built between Rødbyhavn, Denmark and Puttgarden, Germany, to accommodate rail and road traffic.

It will become the longest immersed tunnel in the world. The project is part of the European TEN-T network.
